Principal and staff profiles

Welcome from our Principal

Mrs Louisa Guest, School Principal

As Principal of Lonsdale Heights Primary School, I am proud to lead a dedicated team of staff and work closely with families to create a vibrant, innovative, and supportive learning environment. Our shared vision is to develop students who are independent, lifelong learners and informed, productive citizens.

Lonsdale Heights caters for children from Preschool to Year 6 and is known for its high expectations in teaching and learning, underpinned by strong relationships and a nurturing community. Visitors often comment on the calm, inclusive, and respectful atmosphere that defines our school culture.

We take pride in our strong sense of community, supported by a well-established House system—Bucha, Kardli and Yanbo—which reflects and reinforces our core values: Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. Our Positive Behaviour for Learning framework provides students with opportunities to contribute their voice to school decisions and model our values in action.

Our educators are committed to evidence-based, high-impact teaching strategies including explicit instruction, targeted differentiation, clear learning intentions, purposeful lesson sequencing, and ongoing feedback. In the Junior Primary years, all students participate in the UFLI phonics program, allowing tailored support in small groups. To further support student growth, we offer a range of intervention programs grounded in research.

We offer a rich and balanced curriculum with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, aligned to the South Australian curriculum learning areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), Health and Physical Education, Technologies, and The Arts. Specialist subjects are including Science, Technology and PE. Students enjoy a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, including SAPSASA sports, choir, camps, and excursions.

Technology is integrated across the school, with 1:1 Chromebook access for students in Years 3 and 4, laptops in Year 5 and 6 and tablets available in Reception to Year 2. Every classroom is equipped with Interactive Televisions to support explicit teaching practices.

Our school-managed Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) service operates Monday to Friday from 7:00am–8:30am and 3:15pm–6:15pm, including on Student Free and School Closure Days. Vacation Care is available at local, neighbouring schools.

We believe that strong partnerships between school and families are vital. We value open communication, community involvement, and ongoing feedback from parents and carers. Our passionate Governing Council plays a key role in supporting staff, curriculum development, and extracurricular opportunities, ensuring continued success for our school.

We look forward to working in partnership with you to support your child’s educational journey.
